Urology Unbound is a non-profit organization dedicated to recruiting, retaining, and promoting Black urologists.

Our Story

The organization was born from a grassroots effort by Black urology residents and fellows who recognized the novel virtual interview season caused by the Covid-19 pandemic would likely disproportionately disadvantage minority medical students. Virtual programs and resource sharing quickly evolved into residency application review, mock virtual interviews, and mentorship. This effort, formally called the R Frank Jones Urology Interest Group, became Urology Unbound’s flagship pipeline program.

Urology Unbound now provides mentorship, networking opportunities, and support for minority urologists at each level of their careers. Our goal is for the urology workforce to mirror the diversity of the community we serve and that this increased diversity will lead to less urologic health disparities.
